Playing Hooky

Our church building was scheduled to have the viewing of the Oquirrah Mountain Temple dedication. As we know, no one under age 8 is allowed to see a temple dedication. What to do? What to do? I'm sure that the church would have liked it if we took turns watching our children so both parents could attend...but we looked at it differently. No meetings = mini vacation day, also known as hiking.
One child only wanted to pick flowers. I think I ended up with 100 various types of flowers in my pockets, hands and hair. The other child had to pick up EVERY rock and throw it while still trying to carry a stick.
It ended up being a great family day. It reminded me of taking drives up to the Ferry Butte and getting ice creams at Smith's for our Sunday drives (and I won't mention TaNece getting car sick EVERY time we went). Or that one time we drove over to Jackson Hole to see the King of the Mountain snowmachine tournament while listening to conference, eating lunch, and then turning back around for the afternoon session for the drive home.
The next Sunday, Daradie came downstairs wearing this....

She thought every Sunday was going to be hiking day from then on.
