The bus system is really good here. First, no one is allowed on the bus unless they have their name on the roll and a sticker on their shirt from their teacher. They have to sit in assigned seating as well. (I gotta tell ya how good Dan is. He left for a job, about 45 minutes away, early in the morning before they even woke up. He drove back, just in time at the bus stop to send Daradie off with a quick hug for her first day of school. Then drove back to the job. Kiddos are lucky to have a Dad like that.)
When talking about kindergarten and Daradie, you can't not talk about fashion.
As a mother, should I put some guidelines on her clothes? See, this is where I'm coming from... we lay Daradie's clothes out the night before including any accessories. She's dressed and ready in whatever she picks out. We are ready to walk to the bus stop. What? Where are my children who were right behind me at the door? Quickly glancing at my watch trying to determine if we'll make it to the bus on time, I run back in. Daradie is accessorizing Koen for the walk to the bus. Example, one day Koen is wearing Batman sunglasses, bright orange hunter hat, and a Cookie Monster backpack. Another day he is wearing the infamous black cowboy boots and his teamster hat from Nauvoo. If you were my neighbor, you'd hear me yell every other day, "Koen, keep up or I'm leaving you behind. I got to get Daradie to the bus!" while I'm dragging Daradie by the hand questioning why she can't wear regular shoes to school and forget about the brooch--run faster! And really, you'd think we wouldn't be doing this since she wakes up before the roosters.

I am laughing so hard!!! I am picturing you walking to the bus and just the word brooch has me laughing. Daradie has got a strong sense of fashion and before you know it every kid in school will want to be dressing like Daradie. I love the story of Dan coming to the bus stop... I can totally see that in Dan... what a great dad!! I hope tomorrow she realizes there is no school and lets you sleep in a little! Have fun in kindergarten, Daradie!!
Okay, so I thought we had fun fashion stories...but Daradie takes the cake. I love that you allow her to be herself. Fun times ahead.
totally seeing you holler "leave the brooch!" As long as she's got clothes on and her teeth are brushed you're good. (I didn't know you got daradie and paige matching tank tops bet dan loved that!)
What a character she is! That's great she's loving Kindergarten so much and how sweet is Dan for coming back for the First Day of School hug. At least Daradie's vocabulary skills will be better than most kids her age. How many 5 year olds can say they know what a brooch is?!
I love how much Daradie's personality shines through! Gotta love that!
